![]() Audio to MIDI Recorder (Version 5.0)Audio to MIDI Recorder automatically converts songs stored in your iTunes music library to MIDI files. Uses biologically-inspired algorithms to detect and segment musical notes. It runs with full functionality on both iPad and iPhone.
Demo VideoHere's a sampling of what Audio to MIDI Recorder can do.
How to UseTap CONVERT to select and import a song from your iTunes music library to the app. The conversion process may take a minute or two depending on the size of the file. Avoid songs longer than 10 minutes.Tap PLAY to expose a player toolbar at the bottom of the screen that controls the playback display. The left control starts/pauses playback. You can move to different places in the song by tapping on the left side of the display to go backwards, or the right side of the display to move ahead in the song. The slider on the right mixes the original audio (slider left) and the converted MIDI data played through an internal synth (slider right). Blending allows you to easily assess the accuracy of the conversion in order to make changes to algorithm parameters described below. Double tap the slider button to toggle the sound map that lets you change the sound of the synth. Tap the gear icon at the top to expose the conversion toolbar at the bottom. The left button on the bottom toolbar changes the conversion options. Although some experimentation is required,
The slider on the top toolbar changes the time width of the display. It does not affect audio to MIDI conversion. The vertical sliders on the right change the frequency range and do affect the conversion process, allowing you to focus on a particular range of frequencies (pitches) such as a solo instrument, a bass line, etc. N.B. The app does not provide a clock (BPM). Exported sequences are at 107 BPM, which is determined by the app's internal time base and cannot be changed. Use an external editor to change tempo. |
